On average, 445 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week.

Estimated number of new cases of breast cancer in females by age:

6,600 breast cancer cases diagnosed in women 70+
5, 800 breast cancer cases diagnosed in women 60-69
6,200 breast cancer cases diagnosed in women 50-59
3, 500 breast cancer cases diagnosed in women 40-49
950 breast cancer cases diagnosed in women under the age of 40

On average, 100 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every week.

At present, the five-year relative survival rate for female breast cancer in
Canada is 87% (84% for men) which means that women diagnosed with
breast cancer have an 87% likelihood of living for 5 years after their diagnosis.

This is in Canada. [link]

If you want to see the U.S statistics go here: [link]

This is not something to be taken lightly. I can assure you that not only women are affected by this.
Men with breast cancer make up a little less than 1% of all cases. So dont brush it off just
because you're a dude. It may affect you, OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lets make it count. :rose:

Please fa the stamp above!

Thats actually a really good article, and I completely agree with it.

But there are some things you have to keep in mind when it comes to this website,
the biggest part of it being that its meant to be art, even tho this is aimed towards a
greater cause, its still meant to attract the  eye so people will click on it, read the description
and hopefully decide to get involved with this issue.

However, thats not the case for the most part, people will look at it, like
the colors or the witty message and move on with their lives. You will see
so many stamps with the same message as this one, and wonder what the
artist is trying to do: attract an audience for their daring stamp or bring awareness
to an actual issue. For the most part, you will find out that the former is the more
likely cause.

And hey, I understand how that can be frustrating, but honestly deviantart is
not the place to fight for issues like this. You will never win, because people dont
care about making a chance, they care about attention.

I have tried bringing awareness to how much pornographic images are posted
on this website, (which are against dA's policies) portraying men and women alike
as nothing but sexual objects, and you know what I got in response? Things like,
I hate the human body, or im against people's freedom to observe the body, that
I'm against artistic nudes etc. I got attacked. I got called names. For something much
greater than using a slogan that includes the word boobs.

I have long given up trying to change this community, and honestly I dont
think my stamp sexualizes women, I love boobs, I love my boobs for that matter
and it would be, as I imagine, a tremendous impact if someone was to loose
their breasts. What my stamps is meaning to portray is the prevention of
breast cancer, not being against loosing your breasts.

It is however, up to the viewer to decide how to interpret this message.

my sister-in-law is getting a double mastectomy on the 13th of this month I think because she has an aggressive tumor in her right breast and she doesn't wanna risk getting it again in her left breast. she's only 30 years old too. :-/

I will definitely do what I can to make it count. My biology teacher's wife just died of cancer, and I didn't know her, but I am sad for him. But, there's a beautiful young girl in my church who is very close to overcoming cancer. I know it can be beaten.

:shifty: So much better than my stamp. I'm just saying...
Also, so many people don't think men can get breast cancer, yet they do. Not much, but they do. Sad thing is, some insurances won't cover it because they're men.
I don't brush breast cancer off because my cousin died of breast cancer. She was my age when she found out she had cancer and a few years later, she lost her fight. :(

I actually think its way too close to yours, and since you came up with
it first, I linked it in the description box. I hope thats ok with you!

I actually didnt know they denied men! Thats just sexist. :[

Im sorry for your loss, its really tough to have someone go though it.
I dont know anyone too close to me, but I can only imagine how difficult it would be.

Yup!
Some men actually have a few mammar glands :I
And men can develop breasts doing many things, including drinking too much soy milk and smoking pot, as these favorise the production of oestrogene
